Chinchilla Persian Care
Chinchilla Persian cats like any other pet you may keep needs the correct care. We have listed what we have found to be best for our Chinchilla cat.
Diet
Its best to feed a complete food to your Chinchilla Persian no more than 3 times per day. The choice of feeding a wet food (pouches or tinned) or a dry food is personal choice. We prefer to feed a dry food twice a day and the third meal a mixture of both. Remember the wet food can be stored in a fridge but serve wet food (pouches or tinned) at room temperature. Fresh drinking water should be available at all times. DO NOT feed your Chinchilla Persian kitten or cat cow's milk as it's likely to cause diarrhoea.
Toilet Training
Your kitten or cat should already be using a litter tray before you collect it. Make sure your litter tray is large enough and has a lip to stop your cat from kicking the litter out. We prefer not to use sawdust or woodshavings (old fashioned) but reccommend the use of one of the many modern cat litters that are great at absorbing liquids and clump up. This means you only need to pick over the tray with a small litter shovel to remove the clumps daily and replace the entire contents on a weekly basis. Do not place the litte tray in the same place as your Chinchilla Persian is fed.
Toys
Like all cats Chinchilla Persian like to climb and claw. The best way to protect your furniture and curtains is to invest in a suitable range of toys to keep your Chinchilla Persian amused. A scratch post is a must, make sure it stable as cats like to pounce and if it is tall with tunnels and platforms it must not be able to topple over. Take a look at your local Pet Store and you will find a massive array of toys. Remember a few pounds spent here will save you a fortune in replacing furniture and curtains. The cheapest toy of all for your Chinchilla Persian is the cardboard tube from kitchen towels or toilet rolls, best of all its free!
Bedding
Provide your Ragdoll cat with a variety of places to sleep as if they do not like them they will find their own usually on your bed! We provide a fleece bed that is easily machine washable as well as a bed that hangs on the radiator. If you are going to show your Chinchilla Persian then you can also use their pet carrier. By using your pet carrier in this way your Ragdoll will be used to it, and will not be scared when you close the door for its regular trip to the vet or to shows.
