Feeding Raw

Here at Dollywinks we are always trying to improve on how we raise our Chinchilla/ Persian cats and kittens. We only fed the best dried foods but for the past months we have gone away from these processed dry foods and expensive tinned cooked meats and tried a more natural raw diet as nature intended.

What do we mean by raw?
It's human grade, minced meat but with bone. Being coarsely ground meat and bone, so it has to be chewed. Ours is Bulmers 95% Beef 5% Bone.

Benefits.
  • It's 100% Natural.
  • Less food waste thats gone in minutes. There bowls are literally licked clean.
  • Less allergies as it contains 100% no grain.
  • Smaller less smelly poo. That also means using less litter.
  • Cleaner teeth and healthier gums.
  • Less tear staining around the eyes and face.
  • Cost pennies per cat per day for a healthier pet.
  • 100% Traceability.
  • Easy to store as keep frozen until needed.

So how much to feed?
Here at Dollywinks we are still experimenting with quantities and methods for chinchilla persian cats but this seems to work well for us.

On the right is a standard feeding bowl and for scale a teaspoon. As you can see it is quite wet but this is from added water.
  • Defrost the block in the fridge for 24hrs.
  • Place contents in a large dish with a lid (It's going in your fridge).
  • Add 200ml of tepid water, mix to loosen it up.
  • Place 2 x heaped table spoons (70g) approx in food bowl.
Before serving make sure it is at room temp. This can be speeded up by adding a little more tepid water.

In an evening we give also them a small amount of our preferred dry food.
